QuestionHello. I am dividing my pitcher plants now in NC. Flower buds are showing. Will dividing them now still produce the flowers after repotting? They sure would make a nice show for my "new baby plants" ! Thanks much! Novice, but learning. . .
AnswerHi Holly,
I highly recommend cutting flower buds off if you divide rhizomes. Blooming takes lots of energy away from the plant, and they produce few pitchers if you let them bloom after division.
Since you are new to carnivorous plants, I highly recommend you consider our volume #1 DVD. This will give you hands-on demonstrations on such things as dividing Sarracenia rhizomes, and will help you avoid common mistakes many new growers encounter. We also show you what is a good size at which to divide your plants.
Good Growing!
