Question
hi,i have a nepenthes mikei i ordered from you guys a week ago. i hear that highland nepenthes need a huge temperature drop at night or they will not grow pitchers. i know mine has no pitchers because of natural decrease in sun light in the winter. i live in piedmont,georgia near atlanta with my plant in a south window. my window is single pane and it gets alot of morning sun and filtered sun throughout the day. i think it gets colder there at night, but im not sure. is this a major deal for my plant to be healthy and happy. or will it adapt to the the slightly higher temperature at night.it still gets colder but not like a 20 degree drop. i water with rain water and keep it in the soil you gave us in the container you gave us . if im doing any thing wrong tell what it is so i can make any ajustments

Fortunately, N. mikei isn't a super fussy plant.  This time of year, your window will experience a cool-down at night.  It will be more important in the summer when you're having very warm temperatures.  I'm assuming living near Atlanta, that you have air conditioning.  Your house should be cool enough at night to keep the plant cool.  How important the night cool-down is greatly depends on the species.  For more information on growing Nepenthes and other tropical pitcher plants, be sure to consider our DVD, "Grow Carnivorous Plants" volume #3.
