Do D. Spatulata Frazer Island need warm temps.


Question
Do D. Spatulata Frazer Island need warm temps and Strong light (2 daylight florecent lightbulbs) to produce dew? my /d. Spatulata isn't producing dew since it got mine 2 weeks ago.

zone 8
2 light bulbs (26 watts on each bulb {52 watts together) 1600 lumens on each bulb {3200 lumens together)
lightbulbs are 4 inch away from plant
Pure peat moss (soil wet not flooded)
distiled water

Hi David,

Yes.  This sundew originates from Frazer Island, Australia, which is fairly far north, and very tropical.  They are at their best in temperatures above 70 and in strong, direct sun.

Your fluorescent lights should get the job done, just move the plants closer.  Get them within two inches of the lights.  I would often get small rosetted sundews very close to the tubes.  This gives them both warmth and intensity.
