QuestionHi, just now I bought a cephalotus from you. I read the care sheet on your website, but didn't find any information about the humidity for this species. What's the humidity level shall I provide? I live in San Diego, and the summer daytime temperature is about 70-75F. Under the direct sunlight the humidity level might be 30%. Can I just put the plant under the direct sunlight without any protection?
Thank you.
AnswerHi Zhilin,
We generally don't talk about humidity on our website because humidity is a red herring. It's not a critical component to growing Cephalotus or 99% of the carnivorous plants commonly found in cultivation throughout the United States.
In Volume 3 of the Grow Carnivorous Plants DVD series, we show you how to grow a Cephalotus on your windowsill. The plant in the video is in a south kitchen window and has been growing there for 2-3 years.
If you plan to place the plant in a windowsill with direct sunlight, that should be OK. These plants were grown in near full sun conditions. However, I don't recommend growing it outside in full sun, not in your region. Outdoor weather in summer can be very warm and harsh. You can mitigate the conditions by growing it in a sunny windowsill instead.
For details about growing Cephalotus, watch Volume 3. I also recommend visiting the following webpage:

Good growing!
