QuestionI have a Sarracenia flava and a Sarracenia purpurea flowered
this spring that are now sending up flower stalks again. I
live in southwest Michigan. The plants are growing outdoors
in 6+ hours of direct sunlight. Should I let the plant
flower again or should I cut the new flower to save the
plant from expending the energy of flowering again?
Thanks.
AnswerHi Justin,
It's a personal judgement call. If you have nice big healthy plants it won't hurt anything. It's a nice fall treat. Fall flowers, however, almost never produce seed even if pollinated. They simply don't have time to develop.
Good Growing!
