Questionok so i have a flytrap and she has some flowers blooming and i was wondering if there are any specific things i should know or look out for so i can get the seeds and start some new plants.
Answer
Venus Flytraps Floweri
To get a good seed harvest from a Venus Flytrap, you ought to hand pollinate the flowers. I use a small, fine-haired artist's brush to do that. The pollen matures as the flower opens, but the stigma (at the center of the flower) is not receptive to pollen until a day or more later, so pollen from fresh flowers must be used to pollinate flowers that opened the previous few days, and must be pollinated itself a day or two after it opens.
See the attached photo montage I made of some of my Venus Flytraps flowering and setting seed. It may help to explain the process.
