Question
plants
1) i have a vines flytrap and the traps don't work any more. it was in a tray of water next to artificial light. when the traps stop working i changed soil with sphagnum peat moss and set it outside on a north facing porch. i use rain water to water it all the time. any new traps usually die small. should i cut the leaves off that don't work?
2) both my sun-dews' leaves don't curl up when bugs land on them actual they rarely stick. is that ok ?
3) my pitcher plant has small holes in it. when i set it out side and checked on it the next day ants were crawling in and out of the mouth with peaces of the moth it had. so much for slippery sides. what can i do?
i live in central Indiana. i use peat mos and rain water on all the plants

Hi Sean,
This is a classic case of not nearly enough sun. I can tell these were probably from the little death cubes and were in low light for a long time. Here's what you will need to do. Move the plants to a full sun location. With the leaves being in bad shape they are going to burn, so you may need to just cut them off. They are unhealthy anyway. It will take a few weeks, but the old leaves will be replaced by new healthy ones with lots of color.
Your sundew is a Drosera spatulata, a Spoon-leaf sundew. It's a tropical plant. You probably figured out the Venus Flytrap. Your Pitcher plant is Sarracenia purpurea, the Purple Pitcher Plant. Both the flytrap and pitcher plant are U.S. native perennials needing to experience both summer and winter.
