QuestionHello, I have a Sarracenia rubra "Canebrake" and my question is:
Why are the "leaves" shaped like big blades of grass and have tiny hoods? Sorry I have no picture.
AnswerHi Joan,
The first pitchers on this plant when they emerge in the spring and early summer are often small and thin, but are followed by larger, more yellow normal looking pitcher leaves. If all the leaves look like this all the time, the plant isn't getting enough sun. It should be outside in a full-sun location. Sarracenia need about the same amount of sun as tomato plants.
Good Growing!
