QuestionHi there, I'm just curious, when it rains and the venus flytraps are out in the open, will the rain trigger the traps to close? Well maybe not just the rain, thunderstorms? Hailstorms and strong winds? Do I need to protect my venus flytraps? Thanks!
AnswerHi Francis,
Yes and no. The triggers must be touched twice in a 20-30 second time period for the trap to close. Keep in mind that the these plants grow in the wild in North Carolina, and they definitely experience rain too. Our plants at our nursery also experience rain since we grow them exclusively outdoors. We do nothing special for them when it rains. That's part of nature, and that's exactly what they experience in the wild.
Good growing!
