QuestionHello,
I have a Nepenthes x miranda I recently purchased and it is developing red spots on the leaves similar to the ones on the pitchers. Is this normal? I am concerned it may be getting too much light. I live in Florida, zone 9a, the plant is currently outside on a west facing porch.
Thank You,
Sean
AnswerHi Sean,
Nepenthes x Miranda normally turns a nice red/bronze color in strong light. Western exposure outside however, is quite strong if it is direct sun. Try and give it a little shade. Dappled light such as being under a small tree, some lattice, shade cloth or other partial shade will help it to adjust. Don't put it in full shade, however, or you'll never see a pitcher. Was the plant totally green when you got it?
Good Growing!
