QuestionAllexperts,
I have a question concerning watering a Cobra Lily. Can you leave it standing water, and water it by pouring water over the plant. It said in the dvd to don't leave the plant in standing water. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Weylin
AnswerHi Weylin,
The information on the DVD is based on years of experiments to find out what works and what doesn't. Plants sitting in water fared worse than plant that weren't. The premise of our recommendations is that the standing water will absorb a lot of heat when growing in full sun. The standing water will also decrease soil aeration. For this reason, we recommend avoid standing water for Darlingtonia. So it would be a judgment call on your part as to whether or not you want to deviate from our recommendations. You'll just need to make sure the issues are addressed.
Good growing!
