Stop Rinsing Peat & Perlite—It's a Waste of Time

Rinsing peat moss and perlite before potting? Don't bother.

Why It Doesn't Work

• Fertilizers in commercial mixes are usually time-release—rinsing won't remove them.
• No benefit to "washing away" non-existent contaminants.

What Actually Matters

Buy unfertilized ingredients from the start. Check labels. If it says "feeds for 3 months" or lists NPK, put it back. Plain peat bales and horticultural perlite are cheap and safe.

That's it. Pot up and grow.
