Hey guys!
I have been looking through many different ways to cool an ultra-highland terrarium.  In my climate, the summer nights don't drop below 70 degrees.  I have used ice in plastic water bottles but have been disappointed because it only lowered the temps by a few degrees and it sapped all of the humidity out of the air! I was wondering if you had a specific idea in mind for lowing the temps in a terrarium into the lower 60's at least. (ultrasonic humidifiers, thermoelectric units, ect.) I know you live in a climate where it drops to the 50's nightly, so it really isn't an issue for you. Any answers would be much appreciated.

Hi Chance,

After doing a little looking around it looks like your best bet is to buy a thermoelectric cooler, remove the cooling unit, and find a way to install it on your terrarium.  These units have fans built on them, and if you shop around you can find some reasonable deals on them.  Igloo and Koolatron make some good ones.  This will be cheaper and much less bulky than trying to use a compressor unit of some kind like you might find in a small refrigerator.  Let us know how it works!
