Singalana as an intermediate?

Question
Hello, hope you are having a great spring and enjoying your plants! I wanted to know if I could grow Nepenthes Singalana as a intermediate rather than a true highlander?  I read on the care instructions from California Carnivores that I could grow it along side Sanguinea and Ventricosa and that it is a great plant for beginners!

Answer
Hi Nelson,

From our experience, I haven't seen singalana to be as easy of a plant as sanguinea.  It seems to need slightly cooler temperatures at night to pitcher properly.  Otherwise, it does produce leaves very readily.  In that regard, it's as easy as sanguinea, but I just haven't seen it be as prolific in pitcher production without the drop in nighttime temperature.  It's always worth a try, though.  In our growing conditions, we see it produce pitchers in spring and fall, whereas sangiunea produces pitchers year round.

Good growing!
