Drosera falconeri

Question

D.falconeri
Hi guys.
Thank you for your time!
Amongst my collection of carnivorous plants I have D.falconeri.
I just can not find the specific growing instructions for it.
I live in Johannesburg South Africa.
I currently have it growing in a aquarium(1200mm x 450mm x 450H under 6x 54W 10K T5 lights, 30cm below lights at 13hrs/day.Only the light fitting acts as a canopy, front and back has a 5cm opening left to right.
The night time temp is not lower than 22 degrees C but the day time temp goes sometimes up the 37 degrees C.(this is in summer)
I have it standing in 1cm of R.O water
The soil mix is 1part peat and 2parts perlite.
I do nothing to increase the humidity.
1 What I am concerened about is the temps(37degrees C to high?)
2 How do I care for it in winter(We get lows of 2-5 degree C at night. The room they are in will go down to 10 degreesC at night.)Should they just be kept at the same temp in winter as in summer, but just drier?
I do grow N.Bical and ampullaria in the same tank.

I have had them for 3months now.

I will do what ever it takes to have them growing 100%.

Thank you very much for your time.
I have read your e-book and I have both DVD's.(learned lots from it.)

Answer
Hi Adriaan,

This plant comes from a climate where it's hot and humid in summer, and hot and dry in winter.  Treat this sundew like a lowland Nepenthes.  It likes it warm and humid, day and night.  Your temperatures and set up are just fine.  In winter, it's just a matter of keeping the soil on the dry side.  The lighting should also be very bright, partial to full sun intensity.  That's the general concept for this plant.

We tried growing this species, but it didn't like our cold summer nights.  In winter, we just couldn't keep this plant warm enough, so they rotted out.

Good growing!
