Question
plantlets
I am growing venus flytraps from seed, they are about 2 months old now, i live in southern cali. and since all the rain we have had this past week the sun hasn't been out much which usaully keeps the soil warm, i have them in a south facing window. Last night i noticed some white fuzz starting to grow on the spagnum moss i know it is mold, i was wandering what do you suggest to get rid of it with, without damaging or killing my babys, i will attach a picture for you to look at. I also want to thank you guys for all the information you provide on growing carnivorous plants on your website, i have yet to be able to order any plants from you guys, i wanted to start with the death cubes first, and needless to say i haven't killed anything yet, i have even propagated drosea capensis and these little traps are off of my flytrap from last year and if you notice there are 3 drosera capensis growing that got mixed into my flytrap seeds, thank you and hope you can help.
AnswerHi Shawn,
I'm glad our information has been helpful. To keep that white mold at bay, spray with a sulfur based fungicide. The most common one out there is Safer Brand. You may need to spray a couple of times. Sulfur doesn't kill the mold directly, but it creates an unhospitable environment for it to grow. It is pretty safe on most cp also. The only precaution is not to spray it during very hot weather.
We'll look forward to serving you in the future if you place an order. One recommendation I have is to take a look at our DVD's and e-book. These will help give you a good foundation with hands-on examples of how to do different things with carnivorous plants.
Good Growing!
