nep sanguinea

Question

pic 97
I asked u guys about my sanguinea about 3 months ago.  after i clipped the top, the entire plant kind of shut down. a followed your instructions and did some fertilizing efforts.  I'm including a picture to show the progress.  My question is this.  when should i start clipping the older leaves away to allow the newer growth more access to the light, etc? or do i need to trim some of the stalk? there is one growth point close to the top of the plant that is the largest, and there are at least 6-8 other active growing nodes towards the bottom of the plant.  please advise.

Answer
Hi Darren,

Thanks for the picture.  Trim off any dead leaves, transplant to new soil if it's been longer than two seasons since transplanting, but other than that just leave it be.  Those new shoots will continue to develop and give you a nice full bushy plant.  You may have seen pictures on our website of a N. sanguinea in a window with our cat.  That plant started off looking just like this, then grew multiple shoots very nicely.  During the summer it pitchered prolifically.

Good Growing!
