frasier island sundews

Question
ok, i'm a little frustrated with my attempts to fraziers from seed....   i've got a great mother plant that produces plenty of flowers.... when they dry out, i sprinkle them out, and give them TONS of tender loving care. i've planted different groups, and expiramented with misting them daily, never misting them, having my flourescent light anywhere from 2, 8, and 12 inches, keeping the water level very high, medium height, and a low water level.  i've even planted the entire flower without breaking it up before sprinkling it on the proper soil. i'm running out of patience, i really enjoy the fraziers super red colors....  but i apparently need a little help... so...   PLEASE HELP!!   ha ha...

Answer
Hi Darren,

Sounds to me like the flower seed pods had no seeds in them.  I'm thinking of our Frasier Island D. spatulatas and I don't recall them producing seeds.  The typical D. spatulata produces seeds prolifically.  The way you can check is to take a dried seed pod and gently tap it over a white piece of paper.  If it has seeds they will come falling out and you will seed distinct tiny seeds that roll some.  Sometimes the floral parts can look like seeds, but they will appear as scrappy little parts.  Check this out and let me know what you find.

Good Growing!
