QuestionWhen I went to repot my king sundew, I saw that the root had gone all the way to the bottom and was wrapping around. I went and got a taller pot (9"), but the root was still too long and would reach the bottom already.
What I did was wrap the root around farther up so it would still have some vertical room to grow, so was that ok? I can't seem to find any taller pots that aren't these huge hanging ones.
AnswerHi John,
Doing that is just fine. It's also ok if you have a root or two coming out the bottom. Our larger plants often have some coming out of the bottom of the pot. In nature the roots would encounter bedrock which isn't unlike reaching the bottom of a pot.
To get a taller pot you might consider using something more unconventional. If you could find a taller plastic container of some kind that you could drill holes in the bottom of, that would work great.
Good Growing!
