re-pot little sun dew

Question

drosera spahthulata "s
i'm in rhode island and i have my little baby in its original tiny pot. i want to re-pot it.

it looks good overall, has a little bit of dead leaves along the edge but is full of dew and most of the leaves are bright green & red - very dramatic. and it looks like it's putting out lots of new growth.

can it be separated into more plants? what kind of material should i use? (i have cocoa husks, rich potting soil, peat moss and buckwheat hulls)

what size pot is best?

thank you!

Answer
Hi Keri,

Yes, it's very easy to separate the clump into individual plants.  You just need to do it slowly and methodically so you don't damage the roots.

For soil, use a mix of peat moss and perlite.  You can also substitute perlite with pumice or washed sand.

Later this month, we will release Grow Carnivorous Plants Volume 2.  This DVD will feature tropical sundews and show you how to repot and propagate these plants.

Good growing!
