N. Ventricosa pest infection?

Question
Hi SN!
This evening as I checked on my N. Ventricosa, I spotted about 3 or 4 small white bugs on my newest growing leaf. They were barely visible and I was worried if this was a pest infection. If it is, what is the best insect killer to use in this situation?

Answer
Hi Tony,

It's definitely best to treat anything that resembles a pest.  If the infestation gets severe, they can be difficult to eradicate.  Start with a topical treatment of pyrethrin.  You can find this compound at any garden center.  Safer?makes a great prepared solution of it.  Spray it liberally and as directed by the manufacturer.  You may need to repeat it in 7 days.

If after 2 weeks the pests still persist, write back as a follow-up.  We'll then proceed with a systemic insecticide, but first use a topical treatment.  It's safer for a home situation.

Good growing!
