QuestionHey guys! I was just wondering. I own a N. spathulata and a N. spathulata x mira hybrid. Both need cool temperatures with night time temperatures dropping below 65 degrees fahrenheit. In my area that is no problem, but the humidity right now doesnt seem to go above 40% in the day time and stays below 50% in the night time. At the moment they seem to be doing fine, but i was wondering if either of these need higher humidity. I have no problem putting them in with my ultra highlanders , but wanted to check with you guys to see what would be best for them.
Also, I was wondering if you guys knew where i could find a good or at least decent swamp cooler. Thanks for all the help. :)
AnswerHi Manny,
Those conditions sound really good. More than anything else you'll just need to give them time. Nepenthes need time to adapt to whatever micro-climate they are in.
For a small swamp or evaporative cooler check some of the big-box retailers online. I've found that you don't see these for sale very often in more humid climates. They are more common in areas of the country with desert climates since they work better there. Craig's list may be a good way to get a cheap one also. The only ones I've seen recently are big ones for large greenhouses, and are quite expensive.
Good Growing!
