QuestionRecently my Drosera and Serracenia were subjected to ten days of dark moist air. Mold appears to have totally wiped out my Drosera and attacked my Serracenia. I have improved the environment for them with as much airy sunlight that I can.
Should I do more!? Such as, remove all dead pitchers and burn them. Should I repot them
Should I use a fungicide and if so, what kind and brand.
AnswerHi Paul,
Definitely get rid of all dead material. Trim off dead leaves of any surviving plants. With your survivors, spray them with a sulfur fungicide. Safer?makes a great prepared solution of it, and you can find it at your local garden center. Spray all parts of your plants and soil. Be generous. It'll leave a white residue, but that's normal and par for the course, especially when dealing with an outbreak of mold and fungus. If the soil is covered with mold or if you suspect that fungus has attacked the Sarracenia rhizomes, you should transplant your plants in fresh media. Treat the rhizomes with the sulfur fungicide as well.
Good growing!
