Question

My Venus Fly Trap
I did not just get the plants I got them a month ago. they were shipped to me by bug bitting plants. I planted them in a pot just when I got them they were bar root.they had some red and green. I get my rain water by just putting clean buckets outside.I use Lambert Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss and perlite.

Answer
Hi Clara,

Thank-you so much for sending the photo.  That clarifies everything immensely.

You have couple things going on here.  First is watering.  It looks like the soil is a bit on the dry side.  You should have your pot sitting in about 1-2 inches of water at all times.  Most carnivorous plants are bog plants.  Terracotta pots also make this situation worse, since they evaporate water from the sides.  Don't bother transplanting; it's ok to leave them in this pot, just keep them wet.  In the future use either plastic or glazed ceramic pots.

Sunlight.  You mentioned they were getting around 7 hours of sun, but they wouldn't look like that if they were in full sun.  The Venus flytrap is showing classic signs of low light.  Here's the question you always have to ask when selecting a place to put North American carnivorous plants, "Could I grow tomatoes or other vegetables here?"  If yes, then you have enough sun.  If not, it's not bright enough for most cp.  Given this I'm not too surprise that your Drosera scorpiodes died.  They need hot sun.  Pinguicula primuliflora is just plain fussy no matter what you do.

The good news is that your plants don't look that bad overall.  Just get them into more sun, keep them wet, and give them time.  You may experience some leaf burn as they adjust, but just cut those off.  Better, normal looking leaves will grow.

Good Growing!
