QuestionQUESTION: Hi there I have a drosera spatulata fraser island form or
something like that and I was wondering whether or not the
flower stalks will self pollinate or strike when snipped and
planted. Thanks for the help
ANSWER: Hi Armand,
Most Drosera spatulata species self-pollinate. You can help them along by tickling the open flowers with a paintbrush to help transfer pollen.
Simply putting a flower stalk in the ground will do nothing. The stalk may be capable of producing plantlets like leaf cuttings do, but that requires placing it in a propagating dome.

QUESTION: Thanks for the help I had another question, how long does it usually take for the plant to digest a bug about the size of the leaf?
AnswerHi Armand,
If the bug is as big as the leaf, it takes around a week. It's also very common for a leaf to die when it has an insect that large. Just clip the leaf off if that happens.
