jacquelineae with partially dead center leaf

Question
Hi guys,
I just received a new N! to N2 bareroot jacquelineae.  However the newest leaf which hasn't completely unfurled has blackened about halfway down.  Will the next leaf be able to grow from this?  Do you have any suggestions as to what I should do?  It's currently in its new pot going through the bag hardening process. I've had it for less than 24 hours.
Thanks!

Answer
Hi Alex,

Nepenthes jacquelineae is definitely one of the fussier ultra-highlanders.  You're going to have some transition which may include pitcher loss.  We keep this plant humid and cool in our nursery.  Don't let this species experience excessively dry conditions.  Depending on where you live, you may always need to have this one in a partial enclosure.  I don't know if new growth will develop from this spot.  I wasn't totally sure what you meant from your description.

To help it through the transition from being shipped, use a Superthrive solution in the soil.  Be sure to follow label directions.

Good Growing!
