Questionhi around fall last year i purchased a nepenthes from my local garden center pretty much everything they told me about the plant was wrong including its species. they told me it was a coccinea but my research shows it is probably ventrata. anyway it started to make pitchers after a while recently it opened 2 small ones. is it ok to feed it blood worms? if so how often? and will it start producing nectar and if so when?
AnswerHi Steven,
Blood worms are fine. Just put a small quantity in each open pitcher. After that put some in newly open pitchers. There's no set amount. If you did this once a month it would be just fine.
The plant should be producing nectar on the outside of the pitchers shortly after opening. They will often feel sticky to the touch. The amount of light the plant is getting often determines this.
Good Growing!
