Question
Hello! So i had a couple of questions, obviously. :)
1. I have an S. leucophylla and S. alata, and each have an unopened flower
stalk about 2 inches in hight. They both have had it at this hight for maybe 2
months now. They're still green so im not sure if i should just cut them off or
not. The plants themselves are growing well so i dont know what happened to
the flowers since all my other sarracenia flowered perfectly.
2. i have a couple of venus flytraps that have begun to grow new leafs that
stay green or yellowish green. (some of these were saved from those death
cube things, maybe a year and a half ago) Last year these same flytraps had
red traps. From the size of their rhizome i figured that they are now mature
plants. Maybe 4-5 years since they are the same size as some of my other
plants that i know for sure are that old. They are growing in full sun, reverse
osmosis water, peat:perlite mix. All my plants are growing great so i doubt
they're being attacked by bugs or fungus. So what im trying to figure out is if
these could possibly be the yellow variety of flytraps. I've heard that on young
flytraps, most of the time they all look the same until they reach maturity.
Any feed back is greatly appreciated.
I live in southern california, zone 9. Temps. lately have been between 85-99.

Hi Manny,

With those flowers, just cut them off.  They won't mature.  This happens for some reason, and it may have to do with photoperiod.

I'm not totally sure on the flytraps if you have a form with less red, or if it's just odd growth.  Send me a photo if you can.  We've found that it's common for Venus flytraps to send up odd traps from time to time.  We definitely have some that are much less red than others also.
