QUESTION: hi I bought a Nepenthes khasiana, i just need to know what kind of light it need
i live in california. oh will it be a good house plant?

ANSWER: Hi David,

Nepenthes khasiana makes a great houseplant.  Give it a moderately sunny window.  I had a beautiful plant once in front of a sunny east-facing sliding glass door.  If you place it outside for the summer, hang it under a tree or give it some other partial shade.  Outdoors dappled light works very well.  Nepenthes khasiana is also very tolerant of cool temperatures.  Just don't let it freeze.

nrepenthes khasiana care is just like the nepenthes ventricosa like you can
put it in the west window or something? Or the huminty?

ANSWER: Hi David,

Yes.  It adapts to low humidity well, and does well in windowsills.  That's what "makes a great houseplant" means. :)  They do tend to get very long and viney over time, however.  You many need to cut it back at times.

Hi David,

You would want it in a west window.  The reason I originally didn't give you a specific location is that I don't know what the windows are like in your house.  If you live in a spot where your house is exposed, west windows will be the brightest.  However, if you have trees in front of a window like that, an east or south window might be best.  North windows are almost always sunless, so those don't work for most cp.  In my original response I said "moderately sunny window".  You just have to take a look in your house and see which windows get some direct sun.  Most Nepenthes like direct sun for part of a day, but they don't liked to be baked.  However, I would always err on the side of too much sun versus too little when growing indoors.
