QuestionHello! i recently found out that the soil on some of my Sarracenia is infested with fungus gnat larva. What would be the best action? Repotting or i was also planning on using a systematic insect killer? If i choose the second option, would i spray the leaves of my Sarracenia or the soil?
AnswerHi Manny,
A great product for fungus gnats is Neem. Lots of Neem products are on the market currently. Just spray the soil surface. You may need a couple applications. Just follow the directions on the bottle. You could also place some sundews in the vicinity of your pitcher plants to help catch the adult insects. In smaller numbers fungus gnats are not too much of a problem, but if their numbers build up, they will start to eat plant roots.
Good Growing!
