QuestionHow do you keep your dog from damaging your Sarracenia? Just recently my dog has developed an interest in uprooting and eating entire pitcher plants... rhizome, roots, and all. I can't get him to stop. Thanks.
AnswerHi Brian,
This may seem like a no-brainer, but you need to find a location for your plant that your dog can't get too. Your dog is probably attracted to the smell of decomposing insects. I definitely had this problem many years ago. What I did was start growing my outdoor plants in rigid children's swimming pools. With those I was able to wrap rabbit fencing around the pool. This kept both dogs, deer and little kids away from the plants.
Good Growing!
