QuestionHi Any tips for growing a Cephalotus in zone 10?
AnswerHi Julie,
Since it sounds like you are going to try and grow it outside, here are some things that should help.
Make sure your plant(s) are in big pots. A 10 inch pot wouldn't be too big. Also, consider terracotta or ceramic pots. They tend to provide extra cooling.
Top water with cool water. It's ok to have a little water in the tray, but don't keep it too wet. In a larger pot it will stay fairly moist.
Provide light shade during the heat of the day. Shade cloth or dappled light from a tree will help. It should still be getting direct sun during the cooler parts of the day.
The two biggest things Cephalotus dislikes is being too hot, and too wet.
Hope this helps.
Good Growing!
