Question
Butterworts
I have two mexican butterworts (P. Moranesis and P. x 'Sethos') and they will
simply not flower. I have had these butterworts for three years and they have
not flowered once. Flower buds have appeared before, but they quickly
disappear. The two butterworts are growing in a full-to-part-sun window
(South-west). I water them with distilled water, constantly keeping their water
tray full (soil is very moist). The soil is two parts peat to one part perlite.
Thank you for your help.
AnswerHi Nathan,
Thanks for the pictures. Try fertilizing. Spray the leaves with an orchid fertilizer mixed at 1/4 strength every two weeks. This is usually teaspoon per gallon of water with powder mixes. I noticed no insects on the leaves, and I've found they often won't bloom if they are needing food. See if this makes a difference. It will usually take about a month to see the effects.
Good Growing!
