QuestionI heard that live Sphagnum moss could contain, sporotrichosis, is that true
because i need to know if is right for my health and plant.
AnswerHi Aaron,
Yes, this is true. The other name for sporotrichosis is Rosarian's Disease. Rose growers have been known to get it from time to time since it can be carried on rose thorns. The fungal spores have to enter through cuts. Wearing gloves when handling live sphagnum will protect you. The danger isn't real high of contracting it, but it does happen once in awhile. Here's some more information: http://www.dhpe.org/infect/sporotric.html
Good Growing!
