propagation

Question
I have a sundew capensis, and i took one of the older leaves off and put in a new soil pot with sand and peatmoss..and covered both ends off the leaf. the hairs are faced upwards..is this the proper way to propagate a new sundew..how long will it take (and does it matter that the leaf was lazy..came from a death cube)

Answer
Hi Matthew,

Yes, that's the general idea.  You're on the right track.  Just keep in mind that the leaf should be healthy.  Younger leaves produce plantlets more readily than older leaves.  In general, you should see plantlets within 3 weeks.  If not, you may need to try a younger, healthier leaf.

Good growing!
