Would an African violet pot (self watering pot) be safe to use for plants such as lanceleaf sundews or tropical butterworts under grow lights and 50% sun.

Hi Byran,

African violet pots are best suited for Mexican butterworts.  These plants like slightly damp soil.  Avoid using it with sundews because these plants like the soil much wetter.

Both types of plants will also grow well under artificial lights and some direct sunlight PROVIDED that the artificial lights are strong enough.  As long as you see a slight shade of red in your sundew or a faint bronze tinge on your butterworts, you can rest assured your lights are strong enough.
