Question I was wondering if the Sarracenia species has true roots that take in nutrients or roots that just act as a holdfast because they live in bogs where water is acidic?
AnswerHi Mike,
Sarracenia do have true roots, and take in a certain amount of nutrients through their roots. They also benefit from the tannins in the peat moss. They are just much more adapted to taking in nutrients through their leaves.
