QuestionHi guys,
I have had great success with my carnivorous plants, I live near Pittsburgh, PA and have a bog garden that they are kept in year round. My Judith Hindle has done very well and I was wanting to divide it this spring.
As it's turned out we've had a very rough frigid winter and normally the deer don't bother them. Today I found my JH torn out of the ground. The temperature has risen above freezing finally but we had to grab our JH and put her in a pot for now........I'm having my husband get her back in that bog garden asap. I realize now after reading more Q&A that I could have indeed cut her down in the fall. Then the deer would have left her alone.
Is it wise for me to try to replant her now, or should I keep her in the pot until the spring thaw? I also want to know if I do get her back in the ground, should I just go ahead and cut her back now as well?
thanks so much for your feedback,
Karen
AnswerHi Karen,
Go ahead and put her back in the bog garden. Do also cut the leaves off. That helps cut down water loss until the plant begins to grow in the spring. Judith Hindle's are amazingly resilient. As long as it didn't dry out, it should be fine.
Good Growing!
