QuestionHi,
Some time ago when I asked you guys a question about cobras last year, you said that you would be conducting a fall survey. I'm curious as to whether you've gotten any results and if any of the buyers of this plant were from the south or my state? It would be helpful to me to know how people from my state or nearby states did with the cobra. My question regarding sarracenia is do you think that psittacinas and the burkei variation of purpurea will be able to tolerate the wintertime temperatures in North Carolina? I know that they come from a little further south and hope to grow these fine plants in a bog.
Thanks for your time!

AnswerHi Daniel,
As of yet we haven't conducted the survey of Darlingtonia purchasers from last year. We'll probably post something about it on the website when we do it.
I have a great answer for your second question. Go to our homepage and view the January 2009 podcast. There you'll see me showing our pools under snow with Judith Hindle and Venus flytraps. It just so happens that the two pools behind the flytraps contain Sarracenia rosea (purpurea var. burkei) and S. psittacina. After 14" of snow, tempertures in the teens, freezing rain, floods etc... they emerged looking fine. They will certainly tolerate North Carolina. If you live in the mountains you would need a bit of additional protection during extended cold periods.
Good Growing!
