QuestionQUESTION: I was wondering how to water my Heliamphora minor x heterodoxa while I am gone for 2 week vacations. Con you suggest a method to keep the Sphagnum moss moist when I come back?
ANSWER: Hi Taylor,
You'll probably need to rig up a mister on a timer or a dripper. Lots of different models of these exist. In our greenhouse we use one that has a timer on a garden hose connected to a mist line. Many companies make different configurations. Some vacation watering devices are sold by garden centers also. Do an internet search or visit a local garden center to see what is available in your area.

QUESTION: Hmm, I'm not sure how I can do that because my plant would be in a terrarium in my house. It's a little hard to rig up somekind of watering system in my terrarium. Perhaps a way to reduce evaporation?
AnswerHi Taylor,
http://www.comforthouse.com/plantsitter10.html Here's one example I found with one web search. You could easily run a line into your terrarium from a device like this. It could also be used for other plants in the house also. Granted, it's a bit expensive, but it will do the job. As you mentioned, sealing the terrarium more to reduce evaporation will help along with leaving a bit more water in the plant trays. Barring all this, you would need to have someone come over and water while you're gone. You just have to evaluate what is going to work best for you.
