Answer
Hi Lachlan,

In this case, it would have been helpful to know if you're growing your plant indoors or outdoors, and where in the world you live.  You see, there are many reasons why the tips turn brown, and your climate may be a contributing factor.  So without knowing these things, I can't assist you very well.

However, I can at least say that it's sometimes normal for the tips of pitcher plants to turn brown.  In the northern hemisphere, we're already in fall, so it's perfectly normal for older leaves to dry up.  This is part of the process as plants prepare for winter dormancy.  (If you live in the southern hemisphere, then this wouldn't apply to you and the problem is caused by something else.)

Pitchers on the particular species you have last for only a few months.  After that, they start to dry up.  So it could be either a change in seasons or age that's causing the brown tips.

Of course, if this is happening to your new growth, then it could be a different reason altogether.

So I invite you to submit a follow-up, but please include the requested information: your location, where you are growing your plant, the type of water you're using, and how long you've had your plant.

If you need general information about growing pitcher plants, read our care sheet online:
