Question about lighting and my plants

Question
I have flytrap, cobra, pitcher, trumpet and temperate sundew seeds that I bought in June. I stratified them for 8 weeks and soon should be getting some growth. What kind of lighting would you recommend for my plants throughout the winter?  I live in Central Alabama.

Thanks,
Presotn

Answer
Hi Preston,

Since you're just starting to germinate your seeds, you'll need to protect your seedlings from any upcoming frost.  In this case, I recommend growing them indoors under artificial lights.

Use a regular shop light fixture with 40-watt fluorescent tubes.  The typical cool white tubes are just fine and will do the job just as well, and more cost-effectively, than expensive grow or plant lights.  Keep the tubes about 8 inches above the seedlings.  Use a timer to set the llights on a 14-hour day.

In spring, you cold acclimate your plants to outdoor growing.  At that point, follow the growing instructions located at:

Good growing!
