QuestionHi i just bought an Nepenthe alata, and i would just like to know how to take
care of it during the winter as there won't be so much, if any insects around for
it to attract and consume
AnswerHi Hendrik,
Nepenthes can be fertilized if they are not catching bugs for long periods of time. Just use 1/4 teaspoon per gallon of water with a powdered orchid fertilizer once a month.
The bigger issue in the winter is light. Try to make sure you've got it in as bright of a window in the house as you have. It's also common for the plant to loose pitchers during the short days of winter.
Good Growing!
