QuestionI have noticed my purple pitcher starting to send up a flower stalk. As far as i know this is the first one it has produced. My question is, is this the normal time of year for this to happen and if not should I remove it or let it flower and go to seed so I can harvest the seed. Thanks
AnswerHi Tim,
Many Sarracenia send up an occasional late season flower. Since these almost never have a chance to mature their seedpods before dormancy, they almost never produce seed. You don't need to remove it. It's a nice treat in the fall.
Good Growing!
