QuestionI recently purchased the Miranda in Fl. Right now it has many shoots on it but the ends seem to be dried...will these produce pitchers or is it to late ..
I have the plant hanging outside on my patio where it gets sun alot of the day...It is in vermiculite an dried sphagnum moss..have kept it moist but not soaking an mist every 2 days..I live in Pa. I have portable green house in my house for the winter months but felt outside right now would be better...any help I would appreciate ..tks...
AnswerHi Judy,
Once a tendril has dried it's done. That leaf won't produce a pitcher. Pitchers will develop on new leaves.
Nepenthes x miranda is a very easy grower. All Nepenthes, however, need time to adapt to whatever environment you put them in. You should see a pitcher or two before the fall. Watch the leaves to make sure they are not burning. Partial sun is great.
Unless you really want to use the portable greenhouse, you probably don't need it for this species. Just find a sunny window to park it in for the winter and keep it watered. They adapt to the lower humidity of the home just fine. They won't pitcher during the short days of winter, but will start making new ones in the spring.
