QuestionHI, i just had another question about my nepenthes sorry i didn't combined them, wasn't thinking. All right, i have my 2 N. truncatas i got from you for x-mas, id almost say 2-3 years ago and there doing great, but havn't produced any mature pitchers. and my N. sanguinea which i got about a year ago. I was wondering should i take them outside now, i did read your email and it said sometimes its best just to keep them indoors. I now have 12ft by 10ft greenhouse, not a popup one, the day temp range from high 70s-low 90s degrees F. while night time drops to high 50s-low 70s. If there in the greenhouse you think they would be fine when temp, is like this? i know il have to put up something to shade them also, They will probably get a watering everyday, and i plan to repot them filling the bottom half with peat, perlite, and your mix, 2:1:1 then fill the rest of the pot with live sphagnum moss. I would think the plant would be in the top half with the sphagnum. cant wait for my order to come, was this close and missed your lowland nepenthes, congrates on selling out of them in 5 hrs! But i wasn't going to let anything else become out of stock so i got what i wanted ill just have to wait for those other plants. When i receive them can they go in the greenhouse too? (N. Singalana, N.lowii, N.Miranda, N.reinwardtiana) Thanks again, for all your help!!!
AnswerHi Dustin,
They should do great in your greenhouse. The new plants will enjoy those temperatures also. Definitely get some 50% shade cloth to put over the greenhouse. Your soil mix sounds fine also. Nepenthes are tolerant of a variety of soil mixes as long as it is low mineral, and drains well. Since most of these are highlanders, be sure to ventilate the greenhouse well on hot days.
Good Growing!
