QuestionI live in Bingen Washington, across the river from Hood River Oregon. We are right on the Cascade divide. I am interested in growing carniverous plants in my garden, but would like some recommendations from those of you who are familiar with my area as to species that will do well here. This has been a cool, wet spring, and we are troubled by slugs, sowbugs, and earwigs. Thank you.
AnswerHi Joan,
As long as you have can grow plants in full sun, you can grow any of the North American species. We're located in Eagle Creek, Oregon and grow Sarracenia and flytraps outdoors. Our plants are also affected by slugs, but with proper protective measures, you can keep them at bay.
Go to our main website and click on the "Best Plants For You" link. Answer a few short questions and you'll have a list of plants best suited for your garden.
I also recommend visiting our care sheet section to read the general care of these plants. If you have any questions after that, I invite you to submit a follow-up.
