QuestionQUESTION: I now that you can grow this species (until they were unexpectedly eaten!). I've recently ordered this species from another nursery, but I am worried that it won't survive in just a container with peat water. Many have said that it requires "clean" water. What do you use to gro this plant successfully?
ANSWER: Hi Taylor,
There are many factors that influence your success in growing an aquatic bladderwort. So I'm going to refer you to our care sheet section on our main website. Read the one for aquatic bladderworts. It provides a slew of information to help you create the right water conditions for this plant. Go to:

QUESTION: ok here's the setup.
5 gal container lined with peat and typha and hyacinths growing on top. I can splash the water a little to get some air in. Would this work for purpurea?
AnswerYes! That would work. We have (had) our U. purpurea growing in large kiddie pools with peat on the bottom. We also installed a solar fountain to improve aeration. During the summer months, we throw in a few hyacinths to pull out the nutrients.
I said "had" because frogs laid eggs in our bladderwort pools, and the tadpoles ate up our plants. We didn't discover this until it was too late. We lost our entire inventory!
Good growing!
