QuestionI have 2 Fly-traps and I was wondering if I should be using collected rain water or my tap water (which is well water) to water them? Which is more beneficial to my plants?
AnswerHi Jennifer,
Flytraps require water that is low in minerals. If the water has too much minerals, it'll burn the roots and the flytraps will eventually whither away.
Ideally the water should have fewer than 50 parts per million in dissolved minerals. So before using your well water, test it. You can get a water hardness kit from any aquarium store. If your water is much higher than 50 ppm in dissolved minerals, you'll need to use rainwater or distilled water.
