rain water for sarrs and goldfish

Question
I have been collecting rain water for my barrel full of sarrs for years. Usually the water doesn't sit long due to the drought we've had in Ga.I noticed mosquito larvea and put in a small feeder goldfish to eat them. The bucket holds about 5 gallons and I was wondering if there is enough fish waste to be bad for my sarrs. I tried mosquito dunks and they didn't work.

Answer
Hi Lisa,

If you have only one feeder goldfish, you should be OK.  We have customers that set their potted Sarracenia in their fish ponds, and their plants grow just fine.  So I wouldn't worry about a single fish in a 5-gallon bucket.  That's enough volume to sufficiently dilute its waste.

Good growing!
